Hannah Parr lives between Berlin and Santo Domingo, therefore travel and exploration are central in her practice. She works almost exclusively with discarded wood. The found objects become vectors, tools for exploration where fresh paint and mindful decision-making elevate, enliven and present the objects in a new context, in which colour and composition are at the fore. The work evokes an autonomy of form in its more physical presence; a celebration of unexpected formal qualities: forces that appeal to our sense of history and love of storytelling; an exploration of the requirements of function, and how these forces unify us, simplifying our being.
